Back in The Open thanks to a one-stroke victory at February’s Vic Open, where three places were on offer as part of The Open Qualifying Series following the cancellation of the New Zealand Open because of travel restrictions.

Produced a closing round of 66 to edge out New Zealander Ben Campbell and repeat his 2017 win in the event.

Secured his debut at Royal Portrush in 2019 by coming second to Abraham Ancer at the previous November’s Australian Open, which took him to a career-high 154th in the world.

Made his first DP World Tour appearance at the 2013 ISPS Handa Perth International and was joint third.

It was over two years before he appeared on the circuit again, but did so with a tie for sixth at the Australian PGA Championship and then in 2018 won the Challenge Tour’s Open de Portugal.

Is now a four-time champion on the PGA Tour of Australasia. First of those was the 2014 New Zealand Open and on making the 150th Open at St Andrews he said: “I’ve played the Dunhill Links about four times and have struggled in the cold and wind, but it’s going to be awesome.”
